The Train Station Villa is part of a co-living project that involved the restoration of buildings near a station in Algarve (area: Mexilhoeira Grande - 10min between the cities of Lagos & Portimão / Alvor), featuring three side-by-side houses and a separate building with more two homes, all sharing a communal garden, making it ideal for friends or families seeking close-knit living with similar-sized homes, slightly similar decor, and shared outdoor spaces.

The house available is part of the 3 side-by-side houses:

- Equipped Kitchen (fridge, stove, oven, dishes, pots, etc. - no microwave)

- Heating: portable gas heater & air conditioning

- Monthly Bills Included: water, electricity, internet, access to laundry, 2 bikes

- Shared wood-fired oven (no meat BBQs as we are an animal-friendly space)

- Hypermarkets: Odiáxere, Portimão, Lagos (7–10 min drive)
- Space surrounded by nature, featuring a running / walk trail called "Delicate Rock" enjoying the horses, donkeys, flamingos around it ***

*** About 6min by bike ride, leading the back of Alvor / Meia Praia Beach, where you can enjoy also swimming ;)

Note: The train nearby is a small, traditional train, and the noise lasts 4–6 seconds. Guests have noted that it’s not disruptive. The train doesn’t run at night. The station is 2 minutes away on foot, offering easy access to Meia Praia (5 min by train) and Lagos or Portimão (10 min by train).

Welcome package

When you arrive, although the keys are in a lockbox, I always do my best to welcome guests in person and introduce the project myself. I love sharing local tips — from great restaurants to hidden gems and nearby activities. Even when I’m away, I’m always available if needed, and my father helps support the project, especially with anything related to the house.

I’m also happy to connect you with local groups and events for long-term stays— from dancing and surfing to other unique experiences in the area. You can expect a home that’s been decorated with a lot of love and care — clean, cosy, and super comfortable. ;)

I’m Mar, 36 years old, Portuguese and I’ve been running this project for 4 years. My background is in Organizational Psychology and HR, and after working in multinationals in Lisbon, I decided to return to my roots and focus on this dream. I’ve always loved architecture, decoration, and creating beautiful, comfortable spaces. That passion led me to the Train Station Villa project, where I’ve worked to transform old station buildings into unique, welcoming homes. The people who’ve lived here often become close friends, and it brings me so much joy to see a sense of community grow around this project. How Flatio works

Once you send a booking request, the host is notified that you are interested in their listing. From that moment, they have 24 hours to approve or reject your booking.

Hosts are mainly interested in the profile of their guest. Do not forget to fill in all necessary information, add your profile picture, or even make a short video about yourself. Doing that will make you more attractive for the owner and your booking will more likely get approved.

All the properties listed on Flatio must meet certain standards. We require fully furnished and equipped ones, dishes, cutlery and Wi-Fi included. In rare cases, a property may not offer Wi-Fi — this is always clearly stated on the listing page.

The duration of a medium-term rent is usually 1 to 12 months. Most of the hosts offer long-term rents or rents for just a few days, therefore getting a medium-term rent without Flatio is not that easy.

On Flatio, you have a variety of payment methods to choose from. You can use your card, payment gateway or bank transfer. Just pick the one which suits you the most.

How can I cancel my booking?

How you can cancel a booking varies depending on what stage the booking is in.

Is your booking request still waiting for host approval? Then you can simply cancel it directly from your My Housing web app!

However, suppose the owner has already approved your booking request, and you are no longer interested in it. In that case, you can still cancel the booking before you sign the lease agreement. Just consider that you should do this only in essential cases. Because when the host accepts your booking, the living space is stopped being advertised, and they can lose the chance to rent their property to someone else.

Do you have an approved booking and also a valid agreement? In order to cancel your booking, contact Flatio customer support well in advance of your contract beginning (the specific time and amount of refund depends on the type of cancelation policy).
